Charles RANDALL
Born in New Jersey in 1816. His wife Mary BRYANT, was born Feb. 11, 1823 also in New Jersey according to US Census records. She was the daughter of Jobe or John and (UNKNOWN) Bryant. They were married on December 19, 1841 according to a marriage announcement in the December 22, 1841 issue of the Republican Farmer and Democratic Journal found at the Wyoming County Historical Society.
The 1850 US Census has the family (the surname is spelled RUNDLES) farming in Dallas Township, Luzerne County, PA., and again shows them in the 1860 Census. I have not found them in the 1870 US Census, but did find their children William, Emma and Ackley living in Dallas, PA. The 1880 census shows Charles enumerated on a farm with a William Goss. It lists him as a farm laborer, 66 years old, widowed, and a pauper. At this time I do not know when or where Charles died.
Mary is buried in the Carverton Cemetery, Carverton, Kingston Twp., Luzerne Co., PA. I do not have anything to substantiate Charles is also buried there.

Cullen Bryant RANDALL
Born in Dallas Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania on October 25, 1884. He married Elsie Elizabeth HADSELL on November 24, 1904 in Noxen, Wyoming Co., PA. Elsie was the daughter of James Erasmus HADSELL and Lydia Agnes PARRISH. She was born June 13, 1882 at Bowman's Creek, Monroe Twp., Wyoming Co., PA.
Cullen Bryant was a truck farmer, growing vegetables on the river flats at Forty Fort. He took them to market by wagon selling them in Wlkes-barre and Scranton. About 1915 he moved the family to a fruit farm between Dallas and Idetown, living there for about three years.
In 1920 he was persuaded by his brother, Harry A. Randall to move to Huntsville, PA. and purchase the farm next to him. They were living there in 1929 when the Great Depression hit. Cullen's farm was foreclosed on and the family moved back to Dallas, then on to Shavertown in August 1933.
On December 7, 1933 Elsie died of a stroke. The family was broken apart after her death, some of the younger children going to the older ones, and some living with other relatives.
Cullen Bryant never remarried. He worked as a carpenter living with daughter Ida and her husband. In his later years he worked as a security guard at Endicott - Johnson Shoe Company and lived with son Cullen and daughter Ermina. He died in Johnson City, New York on January 27, 1952 of a heart attack. Both Cullen and Elsie are buried in Warden Cemetery, Dallas, Pennsylvania.

HADSELL Family Facts:
Elsie Elizabeth (HADSELL) & Cullen Bryant RANDALL
See Cullen Bryant RANDALL (above)
James Erasmus & Lydia Agnes (PARRISH) HADSELL
Married May 6, 1875.
Lydia was the daughter of Elihu and Elizabeth (PIERCE) Parrish (see Parrish family below).
According to descendants, James Erasmus was a lumberjack, making his living among the many lumber camps in the area at that time. Lydia Agnes died on February 23, 1888 after the birth of their eighth child, also named Lydia Agnes, on February 15, 1888. Shortly after her death, James Erasmus moved the family down the mountain to Lopez, PA on a horse an sleigh.
James never remarried, so the family was broken up among relatives and foster parents and lived most of his life in the Noxen, PA area.. His last years were at the home of his daughter Elsie Elizabeth and her husband Cullen Bryant Randall where he died on July 28, 1924.
Beaumont Cemetery, Beaumont, Wyoming Co., PA
John & Margaret Ann (SORBER) HADSELL
Married about 1850.
I believe Margaret's parents were Jacob and Susan (Unknown) Sorber shown in the 1850 Census for Lake Twp., Luzerne Co., PA, but I do not have positive proof of that at this time. According to descendants, John and Margaret had two children, James Erasumus and Sarah, when they divorced in 1857. The children were left in the custody of their mother.
John then married Charlotte Paine later that year and they moved to Manistee County, Michigan. They are enumerated in the 1870 Census in Filer City, Manistee Co., Michigan with three children. He was killed by a horse he was trying to save from a barn fire on May 7, 1871.
William & Elizabeth (CHATFIELD) HADSELL
Stephen & Margaret (UNKNOWN) HADSELL -
Married, date unknown to Margaret (UNKNOWN)
As a boy moved to the Wyoming valley with the family. Fled back to Connecticut with surviving family members after the Wyoming Massacre. In later years he moved back to Pennsylvania settling in Monroe Twp., Wyoming County. He is enumerated in the 1840 Census in Northmoreland, Luzerne County.
James HADSELL & Content WORDEN - Married August 12, 1752.
Content, born 1726, was the daughter of Peter and Rebecca (RICHMOND) Worden. James had a farm near Stonington, New London Co., CT. which he sold in 1761 to join and move with the first settlers of the Wyoming valley in Pennsylvania in 1762.
The early settlement was destroyed by Indians in 1763 and resettlement did not occur until 1769. James Hadsell and his son, James Jr., were killed by Indians on June 30, 1778 at the start of the Wyoming Massacre. A son John, that was with them, successfully evaded capture and escaped to Fort Jenkins to warn the other settlers.
On July 3, 1778 a force of approximately 800 Indians and Tories invaded the Wyoming valley killing over 300 of the settlers in what is known as the Wyoming Massacre. The survivors fled, most going back to Connecticut. Some later returned with a larger contingent of settlers.
Joseph HADSELL & Rachel CRUMB - Married November 10, 1715.
Rachel was the daughter of William and Mary (SANDERS) Crumb. They resided in Westerly, Washington Co., RI.

Elihu & Eleanor (FREAR) PARRISH
Eleanor Frear was the daughter of Rev. Abraham and Betsey (WILLIAMS) Frear (see above). Elihu was a millwright and spent his early life operating saw mills and in general contracting. In his later years he bought and operated a farm at Idetown, where he died. He was reported to be a very devout and generous man and a leader in church affairs.

Nathan & Esther (WILLIAMS) PARRISH
Esther was the daughter of Elihu Williams, her mother is unknown. She was a sister of Martha Williams who was married to Ebenezer (Nathan's brother). Her brother, Rufus Williams, was killed during the battle of Wyoming.
Nathan came the Wyoming valley after the Revolutionary War, with his brother Ebenezer and a Zebulon Parrish in 1790. Although Zebulon may have been another brother or other relative, there is no record to prove a connection with Nathan and Ebenezer.
Nathan's property contained approximately 180 acres. In addition to clearing land and growing crops, he was also a land speculator, purchasing larger tracts of land, subdividing, and reselling.
